When I was growing up bass player in the 1970's I learned by rote (simply, saying something
or doing something over and over in order to commit to memory). At the time the only access
we had for leaning bass were courses of study that took months to learn. I didn't have
time for that, I had a gig in two weeks. Today we have much better access to bass playing lessons. I
