Bassists, songwriter, & director
for the Toby Keith band.
Wow!!! I think I have found my hero, playing bass professionally for over 30 years
and nearly 21 years with Toby Keith I think I can honestly say Chuck Goff has done it all.
Along with being the bass player, Chuck is the band director and songwriter for Toby Keith and the Toby Keith
band. Packed into those 30 some years he has play in countless small bar, honky-tonk's, road houses and to sold out
arenas and appeared on a number of prime time national television performances. Chuck has
shared the stage with great artists like, Ted Nugent, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Willie Nelson and Sammy
Hagar and many others. He has a BMI Award for writing the number one single "Ain't Much Fun" and
co-wrote "Upstairs Downtown" another number one hit for Toby Keith.
Chuck has been refer to a seasoned veteran but I like to think of him as the
ultimate professional bass player. A bass player who has seen it all, the good and the bad, and not only
survived it but succeeded at it, becoming a shining star and an inspiration to bass player young and
old.
There is not much written about Chuck Goff. Chuck himself has proclaimed
that he does not like computers. He does have a myspace page but it is managed and updated (not very
often) by someone else. There is one video interview I found that was made by Dean Guitars. Chuck
play Dean basses and Dean produces and sell a signature model for Chuck. On stage Chuck plays a 5 string Dean
bass that has a 6 string neck. Chuck had Dean retrofit the neck for 5 strings, giving it a
little wider string spacing than a normal 5 string neck.
Check out the video below, its a great tell of what Chuck Goff is all about, I
think you will be as impressed as I am.
