Finding a Drummer
We had no trouble finding a drummer who could live up to our expectations. Well I should not
say any trouble, we only found one guy who was interested in joining us.
He was in my option an excellent drummer and almost as important; he was easy to get along
with and did not abuse alcohol or drugs.
Finding a bass player proved to be more difficult. Understand that I was in a small
community so we didn’t have a lot of musician to draw from. Combine that with the fact that at the time being a
bass player was not the very glamorous a job. Bass players were told “just stand in the back and don’t play too
loud”. All the really cool people played guitar. No one was beating down our door to audition for the position of
bass player.
It was at this point, I raised my hand (not really but you know what I mean), and said “Why
don’t I play bass”.
And so we began, a three piece group. We went to work in the basement of the guitar players
house learning enough song to get us through our first job.
